So here I am, after fourteen years of battles and frustration, climbing up mountains and then falling down them. I have finally seen a tiny glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel and I’m so freaking excited and nervous and busting with hope and did I mention nervous? So excited in fact, that I have to share it with you. I mean, you’ve all listened to my heartache, now it’s time to share in my joy!
To avoid any of you rolling your eyes and thinking, oh Lord! Here we go – I thought this was supposed to be a blog for Meli to share her story and now she’s product pushing. Please I beg you, put all prejudices aside, just for me….. please 🙂 My heart is full of good intentions only.
Yes, I have found something that I’m experimenting with and it seems to be helping. So why wouldn’t I share? Up until now except for my change in diet to a GAPS/Ketogenic/Paleo way of life, which allowed me to get off truck loads of medications, there’s been nothing else that has stirred me enough to say, “I’m excited this might be an answer to fatigue.” Until now. Look, I could have talked about a million different supplements and treatments that I’ve tried and some did help but not to the point where I have felt confident to tell you all – “You have got to try this!” But now I have, so I’m going to tell you, like it or not.
Let’s go back 26 days to when I started taking KETO OS, a drink each morning of pure therapeutic ketones. My doctor recommended I try it as he had nothing more to offer me. He had just come back from a neurology conference in Canada where all the neurologists were talking about this new product and the amazing results they were having with patients. I didn’t expect much as I’d been in ketosis many times whilst on the GAPS PROTOCOL, my doctor would test my blood ketone levels frequently and I was often in ketosis.
What is Ketosos??
Basically, a ketogenic diet puts your body in ketosis, a metabolic state where most of the body’s energy comes from ketone bodies in the blood. This is in contrast to a glycosis state, where blood glucose (sugar) provides most of the energy. When you’re following a ketogenic diet, your body is burning fat for energy rather than carbohydrates. So your body actually burns either its own body fat or fat that you’re consuming through your diet for its overall energy production.
Ketogenic high fat, no sugar low carb diets were developed to help improve symptoms of epilepsy, but have been found to also help with many other neurological conditions, such as alzheimers and Parkinson’s disease. The brain thrives on ketones. Weight loss is a huge benefit of ketogenic diets due to lowered insulin levels and the body’s ability to burn stored fat.
For me I have a ‘broken’ metabolic system where my mitochondria do not produce energy efficiently, for me a Ketogenic diet was not enough to push my metabolism into producing adequate energy. That’s why I was so interested when I found out about a product that could deliver ketones exogenously (from outside the body), I figured a bio-hack to change the way my body is making energy would be well worth a try. You can google all the research and data and details for yourself, I don’t have time, I’m far too busy finally living. Instead, let me tell you what the last 26 days have looked like for me.
So when asked what wellness would look like for me, my dream was to have more days out of bed in a week, than in bed. Well guess what? I have not been bedridden one whole day in the past 26 days. I have had some rest days where I spent a few hours resting in bed, but apart from that, I’ve been doing ridiculous things.
I have moved house, renovated a cottage to live in while we are building a house, (which has also just started this month. And we all know how draining that is), then moved into the cottage. I have also been giving 24 hour care to my beautiful boy who has just come home from hospital after suffering a traumatic brain injury (yep, super stressful).
I’ve been camping for two weeks. Friends we were camping with whom we have camped with for over 7 years, were so curious they came and asked, “What has Meli been doing? She’s so well. She has not been in bed for days like she normally would while camping. What’s going on?” It really says something when other people notice the changes.
I’m back on my paddle board and a million other things. And? I feel amazing. I have not had a fight with hubby, my mood is balanced, I am way less emotional. I even felt like having sex which let me tell you after years of medication that completely ruined any libido plus suffering M.E. and such chronic fatigue that made showering at times impossible, let alone a sex life. I am a little amazed to say the least.
As you all know my motto is, ‘IT’S NOT ONE THING – IT’S EVERYTHING’! Yes, I totally believe this to my very core. At this point I’m not saying this is a cure but a fantastic addition to my wellness tool box. I’ve never had one thing make such and impact like this has. I understand it’s still early days, so we will have to wait and see for how long this energy will keep up. I have never made an opinion on a treatment until I tried it… and as you know I’ve tried A LOT!! Countless Medications, fifty electric shock treatments, years of hospitalisations, homeopathy, acupuncture, Bowen therapy, Intravenous Vit C, Amino Acids (which really helped), I have been giving myself regular Vit B12 infections for two years, multiple health retreats, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, meditaion (love), yoga (highly recommend), Isagenix, Pacing through heart rate monitoring (helped a little), Gradual exercise therapy, cold thermogenesis (put me in bed for a month), Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy (this was actually amazing for neurological pain) and I’m sure there’s more that I’ve forgotten. NEVER has anything impacted my energy so quickly as KETO OS has.
Now don’t get me wrong the jury is still out, will this last? Is it too good to be true? How will my body react long term? Will there be side effects? I will certainly let you know and keep you updated.
